Hebei Province to cut crude steel capacity by 5 million mt in 2015

Zhang Qingwei, governor of China's Hebei Province, has stated that in 2015 the province is targeting a 5 million mt reduction in crude steel production capacity, while it is aiming to reduce its coal consumption by 5 million mt during the given year.

In 2014, Hebei Province eliminated 15 million mt of outdated pig iron production capacity and 15 million mt of outdated crude steel production capacity, exceeding the targets set by China's central government.
