Hebei exceeds outdated steel capacity elimination target in 2011

The government of the Chinese province of Hebei has stated that in 2011 the province exceeded its targets for elimination of outdated steel production capacity. In the given year, Hebei Province eliminated 9.36 millon mt of annual pig iron production capacity and 16.08 million mt of annual crude steel production capacity.

In 2011, Hebei successfully eliminated dated steelmaking equipment at 432 enterprises, including 31 blast furnaces with an aggregate annual pig iron output capacity of 9.36 million mt, 41 converters representing an annual crude steel output capacity of 16.08 million mt and 30 coke ovens with a total capacity of 2.93 million mt of coke.

In comparison, in 2010 Hebei Province had eliminated 11.81 million mt of pig iron production capacity, 3.46 million mt of crude steel output capacity and 1.26 million mt of coke production capacity.
