Handan Steel realizes RMB 895 million in profits in 2006

According to the bulletin issued by Handan Steel at the Shanghai Stock Exchange, the steelmaker's iron output in 2006 rose 14.43 percent year on year to 5.14 million mt over the past year, crude steel output grew 9.55 percent to 6.4 million mt, while finished steel output upped 9.46 percent to 5.47 million mt.

The company's 2006 sales revenues totaled RMB 22.2 billion ($2.89 billion), up 11.64 percent compared with the previous year. Meanwhile, Handan Steel's net profits reached RMB 859 million ($116 million), a year on year decrease of 0.91 percent.

According to its 2007 targets, Handan Steel plans to produce 5.23 million mt of iron, 6.65 million mt of crude steel, and 6.23 million mt of finished steel during the current year.
