H1 profits down 56.5% in Chinese ferrous metal mining and processing

According to the statistics released by the National Bureau of Statistics of China (NBSC), in the first half of the current year, the profits of major large and medium-size enterprises in China totaled RMB 2.3117 trillion ($365.2 billion), down 2.2 percent year on year. In June alone, the profits of the enterprises in question amounted to RMB 468.2 billion ($74 billion), down by 1.7 percent compared with the same month of 2011.
 
In the first six months, profits in 27 out of 41 industrial sectors in China witnessed increases. However, overall profits of the domestic ferrous metal mining and processing industry in the given period decreased by 56.5 percent year on year.
