Gujarat NRE receives approval for longwall production in Australia

Gujarat NRE Coking Coal Limited, the Australian subsidiary of India-based Gujarat NRE Coke Ltd (GNCL), has announced that it has received approval from the government of Australia's New South Wales (NSW) to start longwall mining at its NRE No. 1 mine in Illawarra, NSW.

The company stated that the commencement of longwall production in the mine will allow future growth of the company and also secure permanent employment for more than 600 people in Illawarra.

Gujarat NRE has coking coal mines in Australia with over 650 million mt of coking coal resources.
