Guiyang Special Steel to build 500,000 mt capacity wire rod facility

Chinese steelmaker Shougang Group's subsidiary Guiyang Special Steel Co. has announced that it has inked a contract for the supply of equipment for its planned wire rod production line with a designed annual capacity of 500,000 mt. The agreement was signed with another Shougang subsidiary Shougang Engineering Technology Co., Austria-based plantmaker Siemens VAI Metals Technologies SIEMENS VAI Co., and with Chinese power and automation technology company ABB China.

Located in Zhazuo New District, investment in the wire rod project will total RMB 650 million ($103 million). Hot run tests have been scheduled for May 16, 2013.
