Guangzhou in talks for a major integrated steel plant

State owned Chinese steelmaker Guangzhou Iron & Steel, planning to establish an integrated steel plant through a joint venture, carries on holding talks with international companies. Market reports reveal that one of these companies JFE Steel is interested in this integrated steel plant which will have an annual capacity of 10 million tonnes and be built in southern China. According to some announced details, the integrated steel plant will be put in operation on a multi-stage basis together with installation of a cold rolled strip mill followed by some expansions. Production will mainly concentrate on flat strip products for the purpose to meet requirements in southern China. It is not yet disclosed what this project would cost both for two steel companies.
