Global DRI output up 4.5 percent in June from May

According to the data released by the World Steel Association (worldsteel), global direct reduced iron (DRI) production in the 14 countries accounting for approximately 87 percent of total world DRI production in 2013 amounted to 5.14 million metric tons in June this year, decreasing by 3.2 percent year on year and up 4.5 percent month on month. 
 
Meanwhile, world DRI output came to 30.7 million metric tons in the first six months of this year, decreasing by 3.1 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2014.
 
The worldsteel data show that India was the largest DRI producer among the countries surveyed in June this year. India's estimated DRI output was 1.54 million metric tons in the given month. India was followed by Iran, Saudi Arabia and Mexico in June, with estimated outputs of 1.34 million mt, 460,000 mt and 445,000 mt respectively.
