According to the preliminary data released by the World Steel Association (worldsteel), global pig iron production in April this year totaled 88.84 million metric tons, decreasing by 1.45 percent compared to March and up by 32.03 percent year on year. In March, the highest monthly output volume since October 2008 had been achieved.
Meanwhile, in the first four months of 2010, global pig iron output came to 346.15 million metric tons, rising by 28.51 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2009.
