According to the data released by the World Steel Association (worldsteel), global direct reduced iron (DRI) production in the 14 countries accounting for approximately 87 percent of total world DRI production in 2013 amounted to 4.51 million metric tons in November this year, increasing by seven percent year on year and rising by 0.13 percent month on month.
Meanwhile, world DRI output came to 48.93 million metric tons in the January-November period of this year, decreasing by 8.3 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2015.
The worldsteel data show that Iran was the largest DRI producer among the countries surveyed in November this year. Iran’s DRI output was 1.43 million metric tons in the given month. Iran was followed by India, Mexico and the United Arab Emirates in November, with estimated outputs of 1.15 million mt, 420,000 mt and 325,000 mt respectively.
