Gestamp Renewables, a subsidiary of Spanish industrial holding company Corporacion Gestamp, announced Tuesday plans to build a steel fabrication factory in Surprise, Arizona to support the development of large-scale solar energy projects in the US.

The new Arizona factory will produce steel structures for products that use concentrating solar power (CSP) technology and photovoltaic (PV) solar structures.

"Our strategic investment in Arizona represents an important milestone for Gestamp Renewables and follows our belief that the southwestern US will be the epicenter of large-scale solar energy development in North America for years to come," said Jon Riberas, President and CEO of Gestamp Renewables."
