Germany's motor vehicle output down 1.5 percent in January-May

In May of the current year, new motor vehicle registrations (including passenger cars and commercial vehicles) in the German market totaled 281,828 units, down 11.9 percent month on month and decreasing by 6.9 percent year on year, according to the data released by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA). Meanwhile, in the January-May period of this year Germany's new motor vehicle registrations increased by 3.5 percent year on year, totaling 1,434,090 units.
 
According to the VDA, in May this year 475,830 motor vehicles rolled off production lines in Germany, which represents a month-on-month decrease of 21.7 percent and a year-on-year decline of 6.7 percent. German motor vehicle output in the first five months of the current year amounted to 2,545,330 units, showing 1.5 percent decrease from the same period of 2014.
 
In May this year, a total of 365,880 motor vehicles were exported from Germany, down 0.84 percent month on month and decreasing by six percent compared to May 2014. In the first five months, German motor vehicle exports amounted to 1,964,080 units, decreasing by 1.5 percent year on year.
