In October this year, Germany's crude steel output amounted to 3.7 million metric tons, increasing slightly by 0.3 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and up by 3.9 percent compared to September, according to the information provided by the German steel federation Wirtschaftsvereinigung Stahl (WV Stahl).
In the first 10 months of 2012, Germany's crude steel production totaled 36.14 million metric tons, falling by 4.4 percent as compared to the same period of 2011.
On the other hand, in September Germany's total hot rolled steel product output amounted to 3.16 million metric tons, increasing 2.8 percent year on year, including 1.97 million metric tons of flat steel products - up 2.7 percent year on year, and 1.2 million metric tons of long steel products - up 2.9 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, according to WV Stahl, in the third quarter of this year, new orders for rolled steel in Germany fell by 2.9 percent quarter on quarter, to 8.7 million metric tons, down 0.8 percent year on year.
In the third quarter this year, orders from Germany's domestic market fell 5.7 percent year on year, totaling 5.25 million metric tons, while foreign orders rose by 7.75 percent compared to the third quarter of 2011, amounting to 3.4 million metric tons. Meanwhile, in September this year, the order books in Germany amounted to 7.3 million mt, decreasing by seven percent from the last month of the previous quarter (June 2012) and down 6.2 percent year on year.
