Germany’s import iron ore prices regress after rising for eight months in a row

According to a report released by the German Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), in August this year the import price of iron ore increased by 72.9 percent year on year in Germany, while it declined by 0.3 percent as compared to July, marking the first decrease after rising for eight consecutive months.

Meanwhile, in August, nickel imported by Germany for steel production was 28.8 percent more expensive compared to August 2009 and was up 4.7 percent compared to the previous month.

In the month in question, the import price of pig iron, steel and ferroalloys in Germany rose by 26.7 percent year on year, while the month-on-month increase rate was recorded at 0.8 percent.
