Germany’s crude steel output up slightly in January from December

In January this year, Germany's crude steel output increased by 0.5 percent month on month to nearly 3.7 million metric tons, while remaining unchanged compared to the same month of 2014. This was the first month-on-moth increase in five months, according to the information provided by the German steel federation Wirtschaftsvereinigung Stahl (WV Stahl).

On the other hand, in December last year, Germany's total hot rolled steel product output amounted to 2.60 million metric tons, indicating an increase of 6.6 percent, including 1.87 million metric tons of flat steel products - down 7.3 percent, and 738,000 metric tons of long steel products - up 2.3 percent, all on month-on-month basis. Meanwhile, in 2014, Germany's total hot rolled steel production amounted to 36.5 million metric tons, remaining nearly unchanged, including 24.03 million metric tons of flat steel products - up 1.8 percent, and 12.41 million metric tons of long steel products - down 2.9 percent, all on year-on-year basis.
