Germany’s crude steel output rises slightly in 2014

In December 2014, Germany's crude steel output decreased by 9.4 percent month on month to 3.26 million metric tons and was down 5.8 percent compared to December 2013, according to the information provided by the German steel federation Wirtschaftsvereinigung Stahl (WV Stahl). Meanwhile, in the whole of 2014, the country's crude steel output increased by 0.7 percent year on year to 42.9 million metric tons.

On the other hand, in November last year, Germany's total hot rolled steel product output amounted to 3.03 million metric tons, indicating a decrease of 1.6 percent, including 1.92 million metric tons of flat steel products - down 3.6 percent, and 1.1 million metric tons of long steel products - up two percent, all on year-on-year basis. Meanwhile, in the first eleven months of 2014, Germany's total hot rolled steel production amounted to 33.8 million metric tons, remaining unchanged, including 22.17 million metric tons of flat steel products - up 1.5 percent, and 11.6 million metric tons of long steel products - down 2.3 percent, all on-year-on year basis.
