Germany posts rise in steel output
Data from Germany's Federal Statistical Office show that the country's crude steel output rose 4.1 percent year on year to 4.24 million metric tons in October. Pig iron output for the same month increased 2.4 percent year on year to 2.65 million metric tons. Compared to the previous month, October crude steel production rose around 5.5 percent while pig iron production rose 2.7 percent. German crude steel output totaled 39.45 million metric tons through the first ten months of the year, up 5.5 percent year on year. In addition, pig iron output amounted to 25.40 million metric tons, up 5.2 percent on the same period last year.
