German passenger car output up 49 percent in February

According to the data released by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), Germany's passenger car output in February this year increased by 49 percent year on year to 443,200 units, while a month-on-month increase of 22.2 percent was registered.

During the month in question, new passenger car registrations declined by 30 percent year on year to 194,800 units, and dropped by 23 percent compared to the previous month, while passenger car exports rose 57 percent year on year and increased 27.64 percent month on month, reaching 337,600 units.

In the first two months of 2010, Germany's total passenger car output reached 820,200 units, up 35 percent, passenger car exports amounted to 621,400 units, up 42 percent, while new registrations decreased by 20 percent to 375,989 units, all compared to the corresponding period of 2009.
