German passenger car output rises 17 percent in January

According to the data released by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), Germany's passenger car output in January this year increased by 17 percent year on year to 362,700 units, while a month-on-month increase of 4.56 percent was registered.

In January, the German automotive industry's passenger car exports totaled 264,500 units, rising by 18 percent year on year, but down 4.48 percent over December 2009.

During the month in question, new passenger car registrations declined by four percent year on year to 181,500 and dropped 15.8 percent compared to the previous month.
