German new vehicle registrations down four percent in 2013

In December last year, new vehicle registrations (including cars and commercial vehicles) in the German market totaled 244,800 units, down by 17.50 month on month and up by 7.58 percent year on year, according to the data released by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA). Meanwhile, in 2013 Germany's new vehicle registrations fell 4.02 percent year on year, totaling 3,257,690 units.
 
However, during December last year a total of 286,100 new cars were exported, up 2.69 percent compared to December 2012. In 2013, German new car exports amounted to 4,200,300 units, increasing 1.67 percent year on year.
 
According to the VDA, in December last year 360,000 cars rolled off production lines in Germany, which represents a year-on-year increase of 5.73 percent. German car output in 2013 amounted to 5,446,600 units, showing a 1.08 percent increase from 2012.
