In October this year, the seasonally and working-day adjusted turnover in the German manufacturing industry fell by 0.8 percent compared to the previous month, following a revised month-on-month decrease of three percent in September, according to the preliminary data reported by Germany's Federal Statistical Office (Destatis).
In October, the greatest month-on-month turnover decrease in the German manufacturing sector was observed in the manufacture of motor vehicles and motor vehicle parts with a fall of 5.1 percent. In the motor vehicles and motor vehicle parts segment, in the given month there was a 6.4 percent decrease in domestic sales and a 4.2 percent fall in foreign sales.
In October, the turnover of German metal and metal product manufacturing decreased 2.3 percent as compared to September, with domestic sales decreasing by 3.5 percent, while foreign sales were down by 0.3 percent, month on month. Meanwhile, a slight 0.4 percent month-on-month decrease was recorded in the turnover in manufacture of fabricated metal products, with domestic sales decreasing 0.9 percent and foreign sales up by 0.5 percent, both compared to the previous month.
