German crude steel output up 2.4 percent in August

In August this year, Germany's crude steel output increased by 3.5 percent month on month to 3.51 million metric tons, rising by 2.4 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, according to the information provided by the German steel federation Wirtschaftsvereinigung Stahl (WV Stahl). In the first eight months of this year, crude steel production in Germany decreased by 1.5 percent year on year to 28.76 million mt.
 
Meanwhile, in July Germany's total hot rolled steel product output amounted to 3.02 million metric tons, increasing by 0.1 percent year on year, including 2.1 million metric tons of flat steel products- up 4.1 percent year on year, and 917,000 metric tons of long steel products – down 7.9 percent year on year. 
 
In the first seven months of the year, the country's hot rolled steel output decreased by 2.4 percent to 21.8 million mt, consisting of 14.27 million metric tons of flat steel products - down two percent year on year, and 7.54 million metric tons of long steel products - falling by three percent year on year.
