German crude steel output up 10.7 percent in August

In August this year, Germany's crude steel output amounted to 3.43 million metric tons, increasing by 10.7 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, according to the information provided by the German steel federation Wirtschaftsvereinigung Stahl (WV Stahl). In January-August period, steel production in Germany rose with a slight margin of 0.5 percent compared to the same period of 2014.
 
Meanwhile, in July Germany's total hot rolled steel product output amounted to 3.01 million metric tons, decreasing 5.9 percent year on year, including 2.02 million metric tons of flat steel products – down 5.6 percent year on year, and 996,000 metric tons of long steel products - down 6.7 percent year on year. 
 
In the first seven months of the year, the country's hot rolled steel output increased by 1.9 percent to 22.34 million mt, consisting of 14.56 million metric tons of flat steel products – up one percent year on year, and 7.77 million metric tons of long steel products – up 3.6 percent year on year.
