German crude steel output to move up on back of increased orders

In February this year Germany's crude steel output amounted to 3.67 million metric tons, increasing by 7.9 percent year on year and remaining almost unchanged as compared to the previous month, according to the information provided by the German steel federation Wirtschaftsvereinigung Stahl (WV Stahl). In line with the significant increase in orders, Germany's crude steel output is expected to move upwards in the coming period.
 
Meanwhile, in the January-February period of this year Germany's crude steel production reached 7.33 million metric tons, rising by 6.1 percent as compared to the corresponding period of last year.
 
On the other hand, in January this year, Germany's total hot rolled steel product output amounted to 3.15 million metric tons, up by 11.1 percent, including 2.24 million metric tons of flat steel products - up 14.5 percent, and 909,000 metric tons of long steel products - up 3.4 percent, all compared to January 2010.
