German crude steel output down 1.6 percent in March

In March this year, Germany's crude steel output increased by 13.4 percent month on month to 3.8 million metric tons, falling by 1.6 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, according to the information provided by the German steel federation Wirtschaftsvereinigung Stahl (WV Stahl). In the first three months of this year, crude steel production in Germany decreased by 2.5 percent year on year to 10.7 million mt.
 
Meanwhile, in February Germany's total hot rolled steel product output amounted to 2.89 million metric tons, decreasing by five percent year on year, including 1.8 million metric tons of flat steel products - down 6.2 percent year on year, and 1.08 million metric tons of long steel products - down three percent year on year. 
 
In the first two months of the year, the country's hot rolled steel output decreased by 5.5 percent to 5.85 million mt, consisting of 3.82 million metric tons of flat steel products - down 4.8 percent year on year, and 2.03 million metric tons of long steel products - falling by 6.8 percent year on year.
