In the first 10 months of this year, Georgia's ferrous scrap exports to Turkey, the country's main trading partner, amounted to 66,889 metric tons, decreasing by 68.8 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat). In October this year, there were no scrap exports from Georgia to Turkey. The country's ferrous scrap exports to Turkey have been declining on a cumulative basis for more than a year, since the January-July period of 2011.
The revenue generated by these exports fell to $24.1 million, down 69.5 percent from the year-ago figure, indicating that the country's average export price for ferrous scrap to Turkey in the period in question was $360/mt, down from $369/mt in the corresponding period of 2011.
Meanwhile, in the given period Georgia's ferroalloy exports to Turkey decreased 48.7 percent as compared to the January-October period of 2011, totaling 14,276 metric tons.
