Georgia’s scrap exports to Turkey down 63.9 percent in Jan-May

In the first five months of this year, Georgia's ferrous scrap exports to Turkey, the country's main trading partner, amounted to 51,745 metric tons, decreasing by 63.9 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

The revenue generated by these exports came to $19 million, down 63.4 percent from the year-ago figure, indicating that the country's average export price for ferrous scrap to Turkey in the period in question was $368/mt, up from $364/mt in the corresponding period of 2011.

Meanwhile, in the given period Georgia's ferroalloy exports to Turkey increased 136 percent as compared to the January-May period of 2011, reaching 9,800 metric tons.
