French new industrial orders fall by 9.3 percent in January

According to the statistics released by France's National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE), in January this year France's new industrial orders received, excepting heavy tranport vehicles, decreased by 9.3 percent month on month. In December last year, a revised month-on-month increase of 13.5 percent was registered.

In the month in question, export orders also significantly decreased as compared to the previous month, at a rate of 11.2 percent.

Meanwhile, in the given month, industrial orders in the metallurgical industry increased by 9.6 percent while industrial orders in the manufacture of metal products except machinery rose by four percent, both compared to December 2009.

In January, industrial orders in France's automotive industry regressed 37.4 percent as compared to the previous month, after a sharp increase of  59.6 percent recorded in December 2009.
