French metal manufacturing turnover down 2% in May from Apr

In May this year, the seasonal and working-day adjusted turnover index in France's manufacturing industry decreased by 1.8 percent month on month, due to a fall in exports, according to France's National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE). Exports of France's manufacturing sector dropped 4.3 percent month on month in May, after the 2.5 percent increase registered in April compared to March.

In May this year, the turnover in French manufacture of transport equipment decreased by 6.1 percent compared to the previous month, following a 4.9 percent month-on-month fall in April. Meanwhile, a two percent month-on-month decrease was recorded in the turnover in French metal and metal product manufacturing. In the month in question, the turnover in the French construction industry decreased by 1.1 percent compared to the previous month.
