According to the latest data regarding crude steel production in France released by the French Steel Federation (FFA), in March this year French crude steel production amounted to 1,479,900 metric tons, up by 3.8 percent year on year and up 13.8 percent month on month.
In March, steel production in France using electric arc furnaces (EAF) rose 2.5 percent year on year, amounting to 559,250 mt, while steel production with blast furnace (BF) technology totaled 880,650 mt, increasing by 4.6 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in the first quarter of the current year, France's crude steel production amounted to 4,148,500 mt, increasing 8.1 percent compared to the same period last year. In the given period, steel production in France using electric arc furnaces (EAF) rose 11.7 percent year on year, reaching 1,675,800 mt, while steel production with blast furnace (BF) technology totaled 2,472,700 mt, increasing by 5.8 percent year on year.
The FFA also noted that domestic crude steel production in the first quarter of the current was still 14.9 percent below the January-March 2008 production figure.
