According to the latest data regarding crude steel production in France released by the French Steel Federation (FFA), in September this year French crude steel production amounted to 1.296 million metric tons, down three percent year on year. French crude steel production has recorded year-on-year decreases in five out of the six last months and in the last four months in a row.
In September, steel production in France using electric arc furnaces (EAF) increased by 2.6 percent year on year, amounting to 573,500 mt, while steel production with blast furnace (BF) technology totaled 696,400 mt, down 7.1 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in the first nine months of the current year, France's crude steel production amounted to 12,045,150 mt, increasing 1.1 percent compared to the same period last year. In the given period, steel production in France using electric arc furnaces (EAF) rose 1.7 percent year on year, reaching 4.684 million mt, while steel production with blast furnace (BF) technology totaled 7.360 million mt, increasing by 0.7 percent year on year.
The FFA also noted that domestic crude steel production in the first nine months of the current was still 16 percent below the January-September 2008 production figure.
