French auto industry orders down 3.1% in May from Apr

According to the statistics released by France's National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE), in May this year France's new industrial orders received, excepting heavy tranport vehicles, decreased 1.7 percent month on month. In April, new industrial orders were up 1.7 percent compared to March. Meanwhile, in May export orders increased by 1.7 percent as compared to the previous month.

In May, industrial orders index in the country for the domestic metallurgical industry remained unchanged as compared to the previous month, while industrial orders index for the manufacture of metal products except machinery decreased by 1.3 percent as compared to April. Meanwhile, France's industrial orders index for the automobile sector fell by 3.1 percent in May this year, as compared to the previous month.
