Freight volumes on China’s waterways up 3.8 percent in January-September

China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has announced that in September this year the overall freight volume transported on China’s waterways (rivers, lakes, seas) amounted to 550 million mt, up five percent year on year, while the freight traffic volume on the country’s waterways amounted to 754.6 billion mt-km, decreasing by 1.2 percent year on year.
 
In the January-September period of the current year, freight volumes on China’s waterways totaled 4.55 billion mt, up 3.8 percent, while the freight traffic volume amounted to 6.7653 trillion mt-km, increasing by 0.2 percent, both year on year.
