According to the statistics released by the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry, in January this year France's basic steel product and ferroalloy exports amounted to a value of €693.63 million, decreasing slightly by 0.71 percent year on year.
Steel and ferroalloys ranked eighth in January among the most exported products of the country.
During the month in question, France exported €96.79 million of steel pipes and tubes - down 37.93 percent, €19.76 million of cold rolled steel bars - down 15.08 percent, €35.72 million of cold rolled steel strip - down 21.16 percent, €20.76 million of cold drawn wire - down 11.90 percent, €39.52 million of metal structures and parts - down 10.05 percent, all compared to January 2009.
Meanwhile, in January this year France's basic steel product and ferroalloy imports totaled €651.11 million, down 4.19 percent year on year.
During the given month, France imported €91.65 million of steel pipes and tubes - down 17.45 percent, €19.82 million of cold rolled steel bars - down 29.76 percent, €38.18 million of cold rolled steel strip - down 2.75 percent, €24.6 million of cold drawn wire - down 2.34 percent, and €79.98 million of metal structures and parts - down 8.8 percent, all compared to the previous year.
