France's manufacturing output in May this year increased by two percent month on month, after a 1.3 percent month-on-month fall in April, and was up 2.6 percent year on year, according to the statistics released by France's National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE). In the March-May quarter of this year, France’s manufacturing output indicated an increase of 1.9 percent compared to the previous quarter.
In May, France's production in manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, increased by 1.1 percent compared to April, after a 0.8 percent fall month on month in April. In the March-May quarter, the country’s production in manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, increased by two percent compared to the previous quarter.
On the other hand, in May production of France's motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers industry saw an increase of 9.6 percent on month-on-month basis after a 6.3 percent month-on-month fall recorded in the previous month, while the output of the domestic construction industry decreased by 1.3 percent month on month in the given month after an increase of 3.5 percent in April from March. In the March-May quarter, output of the motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers industry increased by 0.4 percent and output of the domestic construction industry rose by 0.1 percent, both quarter on quarter.
