France’s GDP rises 0.4 percent in Q3

In the third quarter of the current year, France's gross domestic product (GDP) rose 0.4 percent quarter on quarter after a 0.1 percent quarter-on-quarter decrease recorded in the second quarter, according to the statistics released by France's National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE).

During the same period, in France household consumption expenditure increased by 0.3 percent quarter on quarter, after a 0.8 percent decrease recorded in Q2. Meanwhile, France's import value rose 0.3 percent quarter on quarter after a 1.2 percent decrease in the previous quarter, while the export value slightly rose by 0.7 percent quarter on quarter in Q3 after the 0.5 percent increase recorded in the previous quarter. Consequently, the foreign trade balance contributed positively to the GDP growth rate in the third quarter, with an increase of 0.1 percent quarter on quarter, though this was down on the 0.5 percent increase in the previous quarter.
