Fortescue commissions second ore processing facility at Christmas Creek

Australia-based miner Fortescue Metals has announced that it has commissioned a second ore processing facility at its Christmas Creek iron ore mine in Western Australia's Pilbara region, achieving a milestone in its expansion to 115 million mt per year.
 
According to Fortescue's statement, the second ore processing facility at the mine was completed in 14 months. Once fully commissioned, the facility will lift the capacity of the mine to more than 50 million mt per year and will increase the combined output of Christmas Creek and the nearby Cloudbreak mine to 95 million mt per year by the end of the calendar year.
