Foreign direct investment (FDI) in China in the first five months of the current year totaled $53.83 billion, up 10.5 percent year on year, with a total of 9,582 new companies set up by foreign investment in China, up 9.6 percent year on year, as announced by China's Ministry of Commerce (MOC) on June 18.
In the first five months of the year, around $33.94 billion of the total FDI figure went into China's services industry, up 23.5 percent year on year, while around $16.57 billion of the total went to the country's manufacturing industry, down 5.0 percent year on year.
