Foreign direct investment by Chinese companies up 18.2% in Jan-Aug

In the January-August period of the current year, overseas foreign direct investment (FDI) by Chinese companies totaled $77.0 billion, up 18.2 percent year on year, as announced by China's Ministry of Commerce (MOC) on September 16.

In the January-August period this year, new foreign projects contracted by Chinese companies were worth a total of $125.04 billion, up 27.6 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, in the given period 2,665 foreign projects were contracted by Chinese companies in 60 countries along the One Belt, One Road area, with a value of $54.44 billion, up 33 percent year on year, accounting for 43.5 percent of the total value of new foreign projects contracted by Chinese companies in the January-August period this year.
