Foreign direct investment in China up 6.7 percent in May

Foreign direct investment (FDI) in China in May of the current year totaled $8.6 billion, up 6.7 percent year on year, as announced by China's Ministry of Commerce (MOC) on June 17. In the January-May period of the current year, FDI in China totaled $48.91 billion (RMB 301.19 billion), up 2.8 percent year on year. In the given period, around $27.5 billion of the total FDI went into China's services industry, while FDI in Chinese manufacturing declined by 16.5 percent year on year to $17.5 billion. Meanwhile, overseas foreign direct investment by Chinese companies in the January-May period totaled $30.81 billion, down 10.2 percent year on year.
