According to Argentina's Ministry of Industry, the US-based car company Ford plans to invest $220 million in 2015 and 2016 in Argentina for the manufacturing of Ford's new models of SUV (Ranger) and sedan (Focus), global models launched in 2012 and 2013.

Argentina's Minister of Industry Débora Giorgi said that Ford's investment "aimed at efficiency and an optimal scale". She warned that the country's automotive sector "is affected by the sharp drop of the Brazilian automotive market, where Argentina exports 60 percent of its production. There was a 20 percent decrease during this quarter and a 25 percent drop in April".

As of 2011, Ford has invested $550 million in the Argentinian automotive industry.
