Ford announces $2.5 billion investment in Mexican auto industry

Ford announced this week plans for an expanded plant in Chihuahua, Mexico, which will become the nation’s largest to provide for the EU, South America and Vietnam automotive markets.

The $2.5 billion investment, which will also be used to increase the product line at the company’s Guanajuato plant, will add 3,800 jobs to the Chihuahua engine plant.

Ford produces 8 percent of its total global output in Mexico, according to the statement.
