Finished steel inventory down slightly in China during July

As of the end of July this year, inventory of the main finished steel products (plate, hot rolled coil (HRC), cold rolled coil (CRC), wire rod and rebar) in China totaled 15.38 million mt, down 170,000 mt or 1.07 percent as compared to the end of June, according to the figures released by the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA). On year-on-year basis, an increase of 1.53 million mt or 11.02 percent was registered in inventory of the products in question.

Specifically, at the end of July inventory volumes of wire rod, rebar and cold rolled coil witnessed respective decreases of 2.38 percent, 1.37 percent and 1.04 percent month on month. Steel plate inventory indicated a 2.18 percent month-on-month decline in July following a month-on-month increase recorded in June, while hot rolled coil inventory witnessed a month-on-month increase of 0.49 percent
