Ferrous metal shipments by Russian Railways down 2.1 percent in Jan-Oct

In October of the current year, total shipment volumes by Russian railway monopoly Russian Railways (RZD) decreased by 3.3 percent year on year to 103.4 million mt. At the same time, in the January-October period this year total shipment volumes by RZD increased by 0.8 percent year on year to 1.01 billion mt.

In particular, in the first ten months of this year, Russian Railways' ferrous metal shipments decreased by 2.1 percent to 58.6 million mt, steel scrap shipments declined by 2.6 percent to 12.6 million mt, while coal shipments rose 1.9 percent to 268.5 million mt, coke shipments increased by 4.1 percent to 9.7 million mt and iron and manganese ore shipments went up by 0.8 percent to 91.5 million mt , all compared to the same period of 2015.
