The Russian steelmaker and iron ore producer Evraz Group (Evraz) has released its production results for the third quarter of 2007.
Accordingly, in the third quarter of 2007 Evraz registered a 16 percent decrease in pig iron production, an 8.4 percent drop in crude steel output and a 6.7 percent increase in its rolled steel production, compared to the corresponding period of 2006. The respective figures in metric tons were 2.76 million, 3.67 million and 3.47 million. During the period in question, Evraz's production of semis decreased by 60.4 percent to 620,000 metric tons, its construction products output increased by 8.8 percent to 1.223 million metric tons, its railway products output rose by 31.7 percent to 563,000 metric tons and its flat rolled products output increased by 46.7 percent to 124,000 metric tons.
In addition, during the period in question, Evraz's mining division saw a 46.2 percent increase in iron ore concentrate production to 923,000 metric tons, a 15.5 percent decrease in sinter production to 1.9 million metric tons, and a 2.9 percent increase in pellet production to 1.352 million metric tons. Furthermore, Evraz registered a very impressive 653.8 percent increase in its coking coal production year on year to 1.352 million metric tons in the third quarter of 2007.
