Russian mining and steelmaking company Evraz Group has announced its production results for the third quarter of the current year, stating that its crude steel production increased by three percent to 3.5 million mt compared to the second quarter on the back of completed repair works at its Russian steel mills. In the third quarter this year, the company's pig iron production increased by 6.1 percent to 2.98 million mt, its finished steel production rose by 6.5 percent to 2.16 million mt and coke production decreased by 27.5 percent to 207,000 mt, all quarter on quarter.
The share of finished steel products within consolidated volumes grew to 69 percent in the third quarter of this year from 65 percent in the previous quarter due to the seasonal pickup in demand for construction products in Russia and improved demand for line pipe in North America.
According to the company's statement, in the third quarter of the current year, with completion of scheduled maintenance works at EVRAZ ZSMK’s sintering machine in the second quarter, production of iron ore products (sinter and pellets) in Russia rose by seven percent quarter on quarter. Production is expected to be stable in the fourth quarter.
