UK-based plantmaker Primetals Technologies has announced that it has received an order from Russian mining and steel producing company Evraz Group’s Nizhny Tagil-based subsidiary Evraz NTMK to supply an automation system, electrical equipment and instrumentation for its new blast furnace No. 7.

With the new automation system, Evraz NTMK will drastically reduce service costs of the furnace, especially those for future upgrades, and also optimize the coke consumption of the furnace.

Evraz NTMK’s new blast furnace No. 7 has a production capacity of 2.5 million metric tons of pig iron per year, and is intended to replace the blast furnace No. 6, which is scheduled for an overhaul. The new blast furnace is scheduled to be commissioned at the end of this year.
