Evraz Oregon Steel Spiral Pipe Mill in Portland, Oregon has announced that it will lay off 130 workers due to an unprecedented drop in demand for steel.

The 130 layoffs, which are effective immediately, account for about 13 percent of the workforce at the Portland mill.

The news of the layoffs at the pipe mill owned by Russian steelmaker Evraz follows the company's announcement last week that it would idle the rod and bar mill at its Evraz Rocky Mountain Steel Mill location in Pueblo, Colorado through at least the end of the year.
