Evraz Group ups production in 2005

Russian steelmaker Evraz Group increased its steel production by 1.2 percent to 13.85 million tons in 2005. The company raised its rolled metal production by 0.6 percent to 12.23 million tons, while pig iron production of the company declined by 0.9 percent to 11.46 million tons in 2005. Steel production in the fourth quarter of 2005 increased 5.1 percent to 3.64 million tons. The pig iron output in the same quarter was 2.96 million tons, down 1.4 percent from the same period a year earlier. On the other hand, the rolled metal production in the fourth quarter was 3.24 million tons, up 3.7 percent from the corresponding period of previous year. Evraz Group is the largest Russian producer of long products and among the 15 largest producers of crude steel in the world.
