The Russian steelmaker and iron ore producer Evraz Group (Evraz) has announced that its North America-based subsidiary, Evraz Inc. NA, has been awarded a "significant" large diameter pipe order from major North American energy infrastructure company TransCanada Corporation, for a portion of the Keystone Gulf Coast Expansion Project (Keystone XL).
Keystone XL's 1,980 mile (3,200 kilometers) 36" crude pipeline, with the capacity to carry up to 900,000 barrels a day of crude oil from Canada, will originate at Hardisty, Alberta and terminate at a delivery point near Nederland, Texas, to serve existing refineries and other markets on the US Gulf Coast.
The steel and pipe production for the TransCanada order are expected to start in 2010. The volume and other details of the order have not been disclosed.
